Introduction to our Programmes
Scottish Business in the Community inspires, engages, supports and challenges companies to continually improve the impact they have on society and the environment.

The Why? Corporate Responsibility section on our website illustrated the importance and impact of reponsible business practices, whilst this section lays out the very positive and practical ways for businesses to become involved with their communities.  SBC's activities provide a "virtuous circle" approach to Corporate Responsibility.

Circle of CRProvide inspiring leadership; The Prince's Seeing is Believing Programme provides inspiring leadership by inviting senior business leaders to see for themselves how business can play a role in tackling Scotland's most pressing social issues, in some of its most deprived inner city and rural areas. Each event involves visits to community projects, schools or prisons, hosted by a senior business leader on behalf of HRH The Prince of Wales.

Help you to measure and report; Using SBC's CR Audit, you can gain insight into how well you are managing and integrating responsible business into your company, and access information to help you report progress. The national CR Index provides a comprehensive ranking based on the overall integration of responsible business but single indices that benchmark community and environmental performance can also be used as starting points.

Engaging employees; Community involvement provides many opportunities to engage employees and to develop a wide range of skills and competences including communication, project management, leadership and team working. Cares is a tailor made employee volunteering service that makes it easier for a company to support their employees and focus on real community need.

SBC's programmes are designed to address the key themes of Corporate Responsibility and the undernoted table offers a "ready reckoner" guide to which programmes address which theme(s).
